Jacobsen Engineering Ltd (JEL) has been operating in its current form for 8 years during which time it has become a leader in the provision of safety, reliability and risk assessment technology to the nuclear industry specialising in the management, performance and independent review of both deterministic and probabilistic safety case studies for all types of nuclear power (MAGNOX, AGR, BWR, PWR, VVER and RBMK), and nuclear fuel cycle facilities.

JEL staff are specialists in the performance of nuclear plant internal and external hazards analysis and Level 2 analysis, and are currently performing state of the art studies for clients in the US and Europe. JEL were also selected to serve on the Westinghouse Owners Group PSA certification team, responsible for reviewing all of the 
PSA studies for Westinghouse plants in the US, and is currently supporting the development of the ANS Level 2 PSA standard.
JEL is currently supporting the American Nuclear Society committee which is developing a standard for the performance of level 2 PSA.
